Check out this simple guide to the Validation Workbench to get started as a validator.
Important!
Validators must use either Google Chrome or Firefox. Once the files are in Validation, the files cannot be pushed back to the translators for editing. Any changes made by validators must be final.
Side Panel
The Side Panel within the Validation Platform contains vital information about the active segment when Validating content. Information you can view is:
- Terminology
- Search
- Context
- Settings
- Filters
- Activity
An indicator (a red dot) will appear on the side panel icon when there is information available for the segment currently selected.

Segment Navigator
The Segment Navigator provides two options for moving around a batch and displays information about the current location within the batch.
You can click the arrow button to move to the next unvalidated segment, or enter in the segment number that you wish to navigate to.
Segments
When you click on a segment, the segment becomes ‘active’.
Active segments are shown by the blue border on each side of the text editor.

Segment Status
The below symbols are used to show the different segment statuses.
Icon | Status | Description |
💾 | Unsaved | The segment is not saved. |
✶ | Edited | Unsaved edit in the target text. |
✔︎ | Saved | The segment is saved. |
🔒 | Locked | The segment is locked and cannot be modified. |
Inline Tags
Inline tags either represent formatting such as bold, italics, or a line break, or they can act as a placeholder for non-translatable text.
Translators will have applied the tags in the correct locations in the segments. There shouldn’t be any need to change or add tags.
The tags in Source and Target must match. If they do not match, then the Validation Platform will not allow you to save the segment. You can easily cross-check tag order by holding down Ctrl or Command - this will display the tag number on each tag.
